The College of Nursing recently welcomed Tierra Merriwether as their new ASO working with traditional BSN students. She is also a WSU alum. Read on to learn more!
ATA: Tell us a little bit about your educational background and how it relates to your current position.
TM: Tierra holds a bachelor’s degree in Media Arts & Studies and a master’s degree in Communication, both from Wayne State University (also former Honors student!). She has a Level I certification from the CRLA (College Reading & Learning Association) as well.
ATA: Can you please tell us a little bit about your student affairs background before joining WSU?
TM: Tierra has worked in higher education for over seven years in multiple roles. She has experience working as a supplemental instructor (Oakland Community College), telecommunications lab instructor (Henry Ford College), learning lab adjunct faculty (Henry Ford College), and speech adjunct (Macomb Community College).
ATA: When you are not advising, what are some things you like to do for fun?
TM: When not in the College of Nursing, Tierra enjoys visiting and spending time with her grandmother, splurging on retail therapy, and prioritizing self-care.
ATA: Any interesting or fun facts about yourself that you would like to share?
TM: A fun fact about Tierra is that she also enjoys cooking for her family and loved ones.
