Introducing the new B.A. in Law Program

The interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Law degree at Wayne State University will launch in Fall 2023. The degree combines the strengths of law, political science, philosophy, criminal justice, and other law-related subjects to provide a distinctive undergraduate program of study that promotes informed, well-rounded, and civic-minded students who will be well-prepared to be leaders of the future.

Students will develop skills and knowledge related to law, such as logical and critical thinking skills, reading comprehension and analysis, oral and written communication skills, and other hallmarks of "thinking like a lawyer." Successful graduates of the program will develop a "skill toolkit" that will differentiate them and will make them competitive for innovative and emerging employment opportunities in a variety of fields and industries or for pursuing graduate studies.

Wayne State University is the first in the Midwest to offer a B.A. in Law program and is a collaboration of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and the Law School. The degree is awarded by CLAS; students must complete 120 credits in course work including satisfaction of the University General Education Requirements, the CLAS Group Requirements and the Departmental Major Requirements.

The B.A. in Law does not provide any guarantee of admission or specific advantage in admission to law school.
