ATA: Tell us a little bit about your educational background and how it relates to your current position.
LL: I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in Family Studies-Concentration in family services. During the time when my children were small, I also obtained a Child Development Associate (CDA) certification to teach pre-school. My education has set me up for servicing people in many aspects, however, I have found myself mostly serving students of all ages for the past 10+ years.
ATA: Can you please tell us a little bit about your student affairs background before joining WSU?
LL: Prior to Wayne State, I was in Registration and Records at Henry Ford College. This position allowed me to learn the ins and outs of higher education and connect with many departments and students. I also served as a member of the SAFE at HFC program made up of faculty and staff LGBTQ+ allies and community members dedicated to spreading awareness and providing support to students.
ATA: When you are not advising, what are some things you like to do for fun?
LL: In my spare time I like to read, ride bikes, garden and work out. I love spending time with family and friends and enjoy traveling whenever possible.
ATA: Any interesting or fun facts about yourself that you would like to share?
LL: My family lived abroad in Germany for 18 months and had the wonderful opportunity to visit many countries!
