The College of Nursing (CON) welcomed its newest academic services officer (ASO), Kimberly Allen-Bradfield, earlier this month. She joins Kalyn Griffin and Tierra Merriweather to round out the CON ASO team. Read below to learn a little more about the newest member of our advising community.
ATA: Tell us a little about your educational background.
KAB: I have an MA in Industrial Relations (Labor) and BA in Communications, Public Relations, both from WSU. I am a Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) through the National Career Development Association (NCDA).
ATA: Can you please tell us a little about your student affairs background prior to joining WSU?
KAB: I have more than 15 years of experience in higher education as an adjunct instructor for Academic Support/College Readiness courses, Career Readiness workshops and courses, as well as have taught Speech Communications. As a Career and Education Navigator for Oakland 80, the Oakland County initiative promoting Governor Whitmer's 60/30 education initiative, I supported students within higher education settings assisting with navigating college processes and promoting academic success.
ATA: When not advising, what are some things you like to do for fun?
KAB: When I'm not advising, I enjoy spending time with family, bicycle riding, and traveling.
ATA: Any interesting or fun facts about yourself that you would like to share?
KAB: I love attempting new recipes even if they don't turn out as planned and multiple styles of dancing. Still working to learn/master sign language.
