The Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) is excited to welcome its newest advisor, Alexandra (Alex) Resendez.
ATA: Tell us a little bit about your educational background and how it relates to your current position.
AR: I am a Detroit native and proud graduate of Western International High School, Michigan State University (MSU), and The George Washington University (GW). At MSU, I studied Political Science and Chicano/Latino Studies. At GW, I earned a Master of Arts in Higher Education with a concentration in Student Affairs.
ATA: Can you please tell us a little bit about your student affairs background before joining WSU?
AR: Prior to coming to WSU, I served as a Career Exploration Coach and Adjunct Lecturer and GW. I also worked for SER Metro-Detroit as a Talent Sourcing Specialist and Retention Coordinator. I am excited to bring my skills and experiences to WSU to empower the diverse student body on their academic and professional journeys. I am passionate about giving back to my community and helping students navigate their paths to success; I truly believe in the power of education to transform lives and open new doors and opportunities.
ATA: When you are not advising, what are some things you like to do for fun?
AR: I enjoy crocheting and visiting local coffee shops.
ATA: Any interesting or fun facts about yourself that you would like to share?
AR: I'm a huge Detroit Lions fan and believe they WILL win a Super Bowl in my lifetime.
