Get to know Jessica Cheriez

Jessica Cheriez is the newest Student Success Coach at Wayne State. She works with students in the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Read on to learn more about her and her background.

KB: Tell us a little bit about your educational background and how it relates to your current position?
JC: My experience includes coaching and advising students in higher education for almost 20 years. My experience includes a focus in health care programs. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree which is preparing me to coach student success going through work life balance as well. My bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Wayne State University has prepared me to know I can make a difference in someone’s life and some of life’s challenges can be overcome, and success can happen.


KB: Can you please tell us a little bit about your student affairs background efore joining WSU?
JC: My experience in student affairs includes Assistant Director of Student Services, serving students with disabilities, Veteran student population, student government, student liaison, engagement and representing many university committees.
 

KB: When you are not advising or coaching, what are some things you like to do for fun?
JC: When I am not coaching/advising students, you may see me out for a walk! I enjoy walking, cooking and watching baseball - especially my kid’s team.


KB: Any interesting or fun facts about yourself that you would like to share?
JC: I am so excited to be a part of the Warrior Team!
