ABC (Advisor Book Club)
In recognition of the growing body of scholarly literature within the field of academic advising, as well as the emphasis on continuing and self-directed professional development, the ATA seeks to encourage scholarly engagement, the discussion of research, and the enjoyment of reading through its Advisor Book Club.
Each term, the ATA selects a common reading for discussion at a future Lunch and Learn session. Past selections have included popular non-fiction books related to positive psychology and applicable to student development theory as well as advisor satisfaction and job performance. Other selections have been chosen from NACADA journal articles.
The Winter 2017 book selection (PDF) is "Mistakes Were Made (but Not by Me)" by Carol Tavris and Elliot Aronson. A copy of the book can be reserved by emailing Kate Bernas, email@example.com. The ABC discussion of this selection will take place at the April 21, 2017 "Lunch and Learn," Noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Undergraduate Library Community Room (3rd floor). No RSVP required.
